Bangladesh earned Tk 84,002cr from jute exports in 10 years: Minister

SANGSAD BHABAN, Sept 09, 2026 (BSS)-Bangladesh earned Taka 84,002.57 crore from exporting raw jute and jute products over the past 10 years, Textiles and Jute Minister Khandakar Abdul Muktadir told parliament today.

Replying to a written question from ruling party lawmaker Lutfur Rahman (Cox’s Bazar-3) in the Jatiya Sangsad, the minister said Bangladesh exported 19.25 lakh metric tons of raw jute during the period, earning Taka 12,612.07 crore.

The minister said Bangladesh also exported 70.69 lakh metric tons of jute products during the period, earning Taka 71,390.50 crore. 

He said Bangladesh have markets of its raw jute in 30 countries and the countries jute products have reached to 138 countries. However, at present, the export of raw jute remains suspended, he said.

The minister said Bangladesh exports raw jute and jute products to China, Iran, Spain, Belgium, the United States, the United Kingdom, Italy, Turkey, Pakistan, Indonesia, India, the Netherlands, Germany, Australia, Denmark, Switzerland, South Korea, Russia, Poland, Vietnam, Nepal, Tunisia, Thailand, Malaysia, Austria, France, Latvia, Mexico and Saudi Arabia.
