Mugger Zakir taken on remand

DHAKA, July 18, 2025 (BSS) – A court here today placed mugger Zakir Hossain on a four-day remand. 

Zakir Hossain, 45, is the main culprit of snatching Taka 30 lakh at the city’s Motijheel area on June 26 last.

Zakir and his gang, impersonating them as detectives, intercepted Khalil Miah and Ibrahim Hossain Rifat near Gharoa Hotel on their way to City Bank Motijeel branch from Wari with the money.

The miscreants dragged them into a microbus and whisked away towards Jatrabari. They snatchers beat Khalil and Rifat inside the vehicle and snatched away the sack of the money before throwing them from the transport in city’s Signboard area.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Minhazur Rahman passed the order as police produced the accused before the court and prayed for seven-day remand.

Police arrested Zakir Hossain from the South Keraniganj on July 17.
