DHAKA, July 23, 2025 (BSS) - A court here today imposed a travel ban on former deputy inspector general (DIG) of Bangladesh Police Md Abdul Baten and his wife Nurzahan Akter Hira over graft allegations.

Dhaka Metropolitan Senior Special Judge Zakir Hossain Balib passed the order, allowing two separate pleas of the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC).

The anti-graft body in its plea said it has already appointed an investigation officer to probe allegations of taking bribes, amassing illegal wealth against Baten and his wife Hira and other members of their family.

"The couple is trying to flee the country to evade justice at this stage and a travel ban should be imposed on them immediately," the plea added.
