Nilphamari's Jubo League leader Shahid Mahmud sent to jail

NILPHAMARI, Sept 8, 2025 (BSS) - Former chairman of Sadar Upazila Parishad and general secretary of the district Jubo League Shahid Mahmud was sent to jail this afternoon.

On Sunday night, police arrested him from a rented house in Dhap Lalkuthi area in Rangpur city.

Senior Judicial Magistrate Court Judge Md. Mosharraf Hossain gave the order as police produced him before the court this afternoon. 

After August 5, 2024, five cases, including two murder cases, were filed against Shahid Mahmud, who went into hiding. 

Police said that after August 5 last year, five cases were filed against him on charges of attack and vandalism on student, including two murders.

Confirming the matter, Nilphamari Sadar Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) MR Sayeed said, "When he was produced before the court today, the judge rejected his bail plea and ordered him to be sent to jail.”
