Travel ban imposed on ex-DIG Sheikh Nazmul Alam

DHAKA, Feb 24, 2026 (BSS) - A court here today has imposed a travel ban on former Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Police Sheikh Nazmul Alam over graft charges.
 
Dhaka Metropolitan Senior Special Judge Md Sabbir Faiz passed the order, allowing a plea of the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC).
 
The application stated that an important inquiry is currently underway at the ACC regarding various allegations against Sheikh Nazmul Alam, including corruption and acquisition of illegal assets. 
 
"According to reliable sources, he is attempting to leave the country. For the sake of a fair and proper investigation, it is necessary to impose a travel restriction on him," the plea added.
