Court orders to seize tax records of DU Prof Shafique Ahmed

DHAKA, Feb 24, 2026 (BSS) - A court here today ordered the seizure of tax records of former Dhaka University (DU) Professor Shafique Ahmed Siddiqui 
over graft charges.
 
Dhaka Metropolitan Senior Special Judge Md Sabbir Faiz passed an order allowing the Anti-Corruption Commission's (ACC) plea.
 
The application stated that the Anti-Corruption Commission has filed a case against Dr Shafique Ahmed Siddiqui, on charges of acquiring and possessing 
assets worth Taka 8.65 crore beyond his known sources of income.
 
In the interest of ensuring a proper investigation of the case, it is necessary to seize and review his Taxpayer Identification Number (TIN) 
records for the assessment years from 2008-09 to 2012-13 and from 2013-14 to 2024-25 to verify the accuracy of his income and expenditure and to determine 
whether he owns any additional assets.
