DHAKA, March 01, 2026 (BSS) – A court here today sent former Member of Parliament (MP) from Pirojpur-2 constituency Shah Alam to jail after he was arrested under Section 54 of the Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC).

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Sarah Farzana Haque passed the order as he was produced before the court this afternoon. Counsel of the former lawmaker at the time argued for his bail.

The court ordered to file a report on whether there is any case pending against him and said it would hold hearing on his bail plea afresh after getting this report.

Shah Alam went to join an iftar mahfil on February 28 at Institute of Diploma Engineers, when a mob surrounded him. They later called police and handed him over to them.
