CHANDPUR, July 22, 2026 (BSS) - A court here today sentenced Md. Arun Bhuiyan, 50, to life imprisonment for raping a seven-year-old child in Matlab 
Uttar upazila of the district in 2021.

The court also fined Taka 50,000 to convict Arun Bhuiyan, son of Abdul Qadir Bhuiyan, a resident of Gajra Bhuiyan House in the upazila.

District and Sessions Judge Md. Rezaul Karim delivered the verdict in the afternoon, Public Prosecutor (PP) Advocate Shirin Sultana Mukta confirmed.

According to the prosecution story, in brief, on July 9, 2021, the child went to the land next to the house with his own brother around 11 am. After some 
time, her brother made him sit next to the land and went to eat. Taking this opportunity, convict Quadir forcibly raped the child there. 

After the incident, the child's father filed a case with Matlab Uttar Police Station on July 14, 2021. 

The investigation officer of the case, the then Sub-Inspector (SI) of Matlab Uttar Police Station Md. Mubarak Ali, arrested the accused on July 15, 2021. 
He also submitted a charge-sheet to the court on October 20 of the same year after investigating the case. 

After taking the testimony of the case, the accused confessed to his crime and reviewing the documents, the judge gave this verdict in the presence of 
the accused.
