DHAKA, June 02, 2025 (BSS) - Finance Adviser Dr Salehuddin Ahmed today said the government is working to expand opportunities for overseas employment to earn foreign remittances.

“By developing skilled human resources, we can expand opportunities for overseas employment and unlock new avenues for earning foreign remittances,” he said while presenting the proposed national budget for FY26 through a pre-recorded speech aired through Bangladesh Television and Bangladesh Betar.

In many developed countries, Salehuddin said, the demand for caregivers is increasing steadily.

To this end, he said, initiatives have been taken to provide necessary training for caregivers.

“Besides, launching PhD courses in nursing education and establishing an international standard training center for nurse educators are being considered,” he added.

To harness the benefits of demographic dividend and build a prosperous Bangladesh through the development and planned management of the population, he said, the ‘Bangladesh Population Policy 2025’ is being formulated by updating the existing population policy.

In addition, he said, the formulation of the ‘Bangladesh National Family Planning Strategy Paper 2025-2030’ is in the final stage to achieve zero maternal deaths that are preventable and zero gender-based violence by 2030.
