Govt proposes Tk 1,704 crore for Foreign Ministry in FY26

  DHAKA, June 2, 2025 (BSS) – The government today proposed an allocation of Taka 1,704 crore for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in the national budget for 2025-26 fiscal for Bangladesh’s diplomatic engagements.

   According to budget documents unveiled by Finance Adviser Dr Salehuddin Ahmed of the proposed allocation, Taka 1,577 crore has been set aside for operational expenses, while Taka 127 crore has been earmarked for the ministry’s Annual Development Programme (ADP).

   The proposed allocation marks a Taka 107 crore increase over the revised budget of Taka 1,597 crore for the outgoing 2024–25 fiscal. 

   The proposed budget of the fiscal 2024-25 for foreign affairs ministry was Taka 1,725 crore.

   The adviser announced the proposed allocation while unveiling the national budget through a pre-recorded speech aired on Bangladesh Television (BTV) and Bangladesh Betar.
