Number of registered MFS accounts stand at 239.3 million in January

DHAKA, June 02, 2025 (BSS) – Finance Adviser Dr Salehuddin Ahmed today said the total number of registered Mobile Financial Services (MFS) accounts in the country stood at 239.3 million in January 2025, of which about 42 percent were held by women.

“MFS is playing an important role in building a cashless society, establishing financial governance and increasing the scope of financial inclusion,” he said while presenting the proposed national budget for FY26 through a pre-recorded speech aired through Bangladesh Television and Bangladesh Betar.

Salehuddin said banking services are reaching the people of remote areas through mobile financial services, which is playing an important role in sending money instantly, receiving various social safety net allowances of the government, paying service bills, receiving remittances and various financial services easily.
