Inward remittances reach $2.19b in January

DHAKA, Feb 02, 2025 (BSS) – Inward remittances sent home by expatriate Bangladeshis rose to 13.4 percent year-on-year to $2.19 billion in January, according to Bangladesh Bank's latest data.

The remittance inflow in January 2024 was at $2.11 billion.

Of this, remittances through state-owned and specialised banks accounted for $627.17 million, while private banks received $1.55 billion.
 
From July to January of the fiscal year 2024-25, worker-remittance inflows stood at around $15.96 billion.

The country has received more than $2 billion in remittances for six consecutive months.
