Fire at Zaman Tower in Dhaka's Purana Paltan doused

DHAKA, Feb 26, 2025 (BSS) - A devastating fire that broke out at Zaman Tower early morning today, a multi-story building in the city's Purana Paltan area, was brought under control.

Nine fire engines doused the blaze at 7:35 am today after nearly two hours of intense efforts, Fire Service and Civil Defence media officer Md Anwarul Islam told BSS.

The fire originated on the 4th and 5th floor of the tower at 37, Box Culvert Road, Putana Paltan, at 5:35 am today, he said.

After receiving information, the firefighting units rushed to the scene within five minutes and successfully rescued two persons alive from the 10th floor, he added.

However, no casualties were reported so far, he said, adding that the cause of the fire and the extent of the damage are yet to be determined.
