Cyclone Alfred left about 750,000 people without electricity in Australia

SYDNEY, March 9, 2025 (BSS/TASS) - About 750,000 people were left without electricity due to the rupture of power transmission lines caused by tropical cyclone Alfred, Premier of Australia's Queensland David Crisafulli said.

"That's the largest ever loss of power from a natural disaster in Queensland's history," Crisafulli noted.

According to the regional government, 318,387 residential houses and plants in southeast Queensland and about 16,000 more in New South Wales experienced power outage.
