River ports asked to hoist cautionary signal 1

DHAKA, June 4, 2025 (BSS) - River ports have been asked to hoist cautionary signal number one as rain or thundershowers accompanied by temporary gusty or squally wind are likely to occur in different parts of the country in next 24 hours from 9am today.

The warning for inland river ports will remain valid till 6:00 pm today, according to a bulletin issued by Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD).

"Rain or thundershowers accompanied by temporary west or north-westerly gusty or squally wind with speed of 45-60 kph (kilometers per hour) are likely to occur over the regions of Barishal, Patuakhali, Noakhali, Cumilla, Chattogram, Cox's Bazar and Sylhet. River ports in these areas shall hoist cautionary signal number one, the met office bulletin added.
