DHAKA, July 8, 2025 (BSS) - Sri Lanka skipper Charith Asalanka won the toss and elected to bat first in the series-deciding third ODI against Bangladesh at Pallekele International Cricket Stadium today.
The series is locked at 1-1 with Sri Lanka winning the first game by 77 runs and Bangladesh hitting back with a 16-run victory in the second ODI.
Bangladesh made an expected change for the crucial game with fast bowler Taskin Ahmed who was rested from the second game, returning to the side. He replaced his fellow pacer Hasan Mahmud.
Najmul Hossain Shanto who suffered a muscle strain in the second match looked doubtful to start but he passed a fitness test to make him available for the final game.
Bangladesh have so far won just two matches on Sri Lankan soil against the hosts in 26 meetings but never clinched a series. The match is golden chance for them to create history.
Sri Lanka fielded an unchanged side in a bid to remain unbeaten against Bangladesh in their backyard in a bilateral series.
