DHAKA, August 6, 2025 (BSS) - Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) A M M Nasir Uddin today said that preparations are underway to hold the 13th National Parliamentary Elections in the first half of February.

Upon receiving letter from the Chief Adviser, the Election Commission (EC) will discuss it in the commission meeting and announce the election schedule two months before the polling date, he said.

Speaking at a media briefing in his office at the Election Building in the capital’s Agargaon, the CEC said, "I expect to receive the Chief Adviser’s letter soon.”

He added, “I’ve listened to his (Chief Adviser) entire speech. He mentioned that elections should be held in early February, before Ramadan. He will give us a letter, and I anticipate getting it soon."

He continued, "We’ve been preparing for quite some time. Despite various challenges in holding elections in February, we’re moving forward with our preparations. We want to hold a transparent, participatory, and festive election. For that, we aim to complete election-related preparations by September."

He went on, saying "We want to ensure a level playing field for everyone. Ultimately, we want a participatory election with strong voter turnout. The law and order situation will be stabilized before voting."
