CUMILLA, Aug 6, 2025 (BSS) - BNP National Standing Committee member Professor
Dr AZM Zahid Hossain today called for the restoration of voting rights and
accountability for past crimes of the ousted fascist government.

Speaking as the chief guest at a rally in front of the BNP office in Cumilla,
Dr Zahid said, "The people of Bangladesh have been deprived of voting rights
for the past 16 years. Those responsible for abducting and killing thousands
of leaders and activists must be brought to justice."

The rally was part of a nationwide victory rally commemorating the
Anniversary of Victory against Fascism following the July Mass Uprising.
Dr Zahid said ensuring unhindered voting rights would be a central goal of
the BNP's movement.

Earlier, thousands of BNP leaders, activists and affiliates from Cumilla
district and metropolitan areas gathered at the party office.

A large procession then circled the city's main roads before returning to the
office, with participants waving national and party flags and chanting anti-
fascist slogans.

BNP Chairperson's Advisory Council member Aminur Rashid Yasin, Cumilla
Divisional BNP Organizing Secretary Principal Selim Bhuiyan, Cumilla South
District BNP Convener Zakaria Taher Suman, Member Secretary Ashiqur Rahman
