Relief distributed among fire-affected families in Karail slum

DHAKA, Nov 26, 2025 (BSS) - The Department of Disaster Management today distributed emergency relief among families affected by the recent fire at the Karail slum in the capital. 

The assistance included 1,900 packets of dry food, blankets and mosquito nets, according to an official handout.

Relief distribution will continue tomorrow, the handout added.

To coordinate support for the victims, a joint meeting was held with representatives from the Department of Disaster Management, development partner agencies, local and international NGOs and the Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC).

The meeting informed that development partners and NGOs will begin distributing additional relief materials to the affected families starting tomorrow.

In addition, the DNCC will extend financial support and install toilets to improve living conditions for the slum dwellers.
