PM asks Ansar, VDP to stay vigilance to protect sovereignty

DHAKA, Mar 4, 2026 (BSS) - Prime Minister Tarique Rahman today directed the members of Bangladesh Ansar and Village Defence Party (VDP) to maintain the highest preparedness to protect the country’s sovereignty alongside ensuring peace and security.

The premier gave the directive when Ansar and VDP Director General Major General Abdul Motaleb Sazzad Mahmud paid a courtesy call on him at the Prime Minister’s Cabinet Division office in the Bangladesh Secretariat here this morning.

Prime Minister's Additional Press Secretary Atikur Rahman Ruman confirmed the matter to BSS, saying the Prime Minister and the Ansar and VDP Director General exchanged greetings at the beginning of the meeting.

During the meeting, Ruman said, the Prime Minister highly appreciated the patriotism and professionalism of Bangladesh Ansar and VDP and their tireless efforts.

Tarique Rahman called upon all members of the force to continue their public service-oriented activities in the interest of the people. 

The premier emphasized the importance of keeping the force always prepared to protect the country’s sovereignty, Ruman said. 

During the meeting, the Prime Minister was briefed on various ongoing development activities of Ansar and VDP, he said, adding, Tarique Rahman assured that the continuity of those development efforts would be maintained in the future.
