DHAKA, March 4, 2026 (BSS) – A court here today imposed a travel ban on Mohammad Abu Noman, a business partner of former finance minister AHM Mustafa Kamal, popularly known as Lotus Kamal, and his daughter Nafisa Kamal.
Dhaka Metropolitan Senior Special Judge Md Sabbir Faiz passed the order following a petition filed by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC).
According to the ACC petition, AHM Mustafa Kamal, his wife Kashmiri Kamal and their daughters Kashfi Kamal and Nafisa Kamal allegedly earned money outside legal provisions through labour syndication to Malaysia, property investments in Dubai, share manipulation and other irregularities, and laundered the funds abroad.
The ACC said an investigation is underway into allegations involving Abu Noman, who is reportedly a permanent resident of Canada and Dubai, including the proposed closure of medical check-up centres owned by him and confiscation of his assets.
The petition stated that the investigation is crucial in the national interest to prevent money laundering. Investigators found that Abu Noman frequently travels abroad and may hold multiple citizenships. There are concerns he could leave the country during the probe, potentially hampering the investigation.
The court imposed the travel restriction to ensure proper completion of the inquiry.
