TANGAIL, March 22, 2026 (BSS) - Liberation War Affairs Minister Ahmed Azam Khan today said his ministry is working not only on issues of the Liberation War but also on those who were martyred or injured in the 2024 mass uprising.

Talking to the journalists after a meeting with government officials of different levels at Tangail Circuit House here this morning, he said that the government is committed to taking care of those affected during the uprising including their families.

He said that Bangladesh was founded through the spirit of the Liberation War and the ministry continues to work in line with that legacy.

Regarding the upcoming national day observances, he said preparations are underway for Independence and National Day, expressing hope that the events will be celebrated successfully according to the plan.

On the issue of the Freedom Fighters’ Council, the minister stated that it should function in a democratic manner.

 He added that efforts are ongoing to ensure the Muktijoddha Command Council is formed through a democratic process, noting that such reforms will take time.

The minister also expressed his gratitude for being entrusted with the responsibility of the ministry and pledged to carry out his duties with honesty and dedication.

 He acknowledged that there are many questions regarding the list of freedom fighters and said he would work on addressing those concerns to meet public expectations.

District officials and local leaders were present at the meeting.
