Labour Minister off to Geneva to join ILO Governing Body Meeting

DHAKA, Mar 27, 2026 (BSS) - Labour and Employment Minister Ariful Haque Choudhury left here today for Geneva to attend the 356th Governing Body Meeting of the International Labour Organization (ILO) in Switzerland.

Prime Minister's Adviser Mahdi Amin will also reach Geneva today to attend the meeting, a handout said.

Labour and Employment Secretary Md Abdur Rahman Tarafdar and other members of the Bangladesh delegation have already reached Geneva.

According to the itinerary, the minister and adviser will join bilateral meetings with labour ministers of various countries and ILO high-ranking officials apart from attending the main session of the ILO.

The main session will highlight the steps taken by the government to develop the labour sector in Bangladesh, create employment and implement international labour standards. The Bangladesh delegation is scheduled to return home on April 4, 2026.
