
DHAKA, April 5, 2026 (BSS) - Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives Minister Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir today reiterated the government's commitment to building a non-communal, democratic and humane state.
He made the remarks while addressing an Easter Sunday greetings exchange programme as the chief guest at the Archbishop's House in Kakrail in the capital.
Emphasizing human dignity and equality, he said a prosperous nation can only be achieved by ensuring equal rights for people of all religions and communities.
He also called on all to remain vigilant against any attempts to create division and stressed the need to strengthen national unity.
The event was presided over by Archbishop Bejoy N. D'Cruze, president of United Forum of Churches-Bangladesh and was attended by leaders of the Christian community and other distinguished guests.
At the outset, the minister extended warm greetings on the occasion of Easter Sunday, saying people's welfare remains the core objective of politics.
He expressed optimism about building a happy, prosperous and democratic Bangladesh through improving people's living standards.
Dhaka South City Corporation Administrator Md Abdus Salam and Prime Minister's Special Assistant Bijon Kanti Sarkar were also present.
