KHULNA, April 5, 2026 (BSS) - Khulna University Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Md Rezaul Karim today said the country's economy would be strengthened if more young people become entrepreneurs.

He made the remarks while addressing the inaugural ceremony of the "Youth Entrepreneurship and Startup for Students (YES)" programme held on the university campus.

The programme was organised by the SME Foundation with support from Khulna University and its Career Club.

Highlighting the limited availability of jobs, the vice-chancellor urged students to focus on creating employment rather than seeking jobs. He emphasised that innovative ideas and soft skills are essential for success in entrepreneurship.

He also noted that the university has established an Innovation Hub to train students and provide seed funding for startups.

The event, chaired by SME Foundation Managing Director Md Anwar Hossain Chowdhury, was also addressed by representatives from Bangladesh Bank and Startup Bangladesh Limited, among others.

Around 300 students from different universities in Khulna participated in the programme.
