Indian sarees worth over Tk 2.59cr seizes at Brahmanbaria Akhaura Border

DHAKA, April 5, 2026 (BSS) - The para-military Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) 
has seized Indian sarees worth over Taka over 2.59 crore from the Debgram 
area under Akhaura upazila in Brahmanbaria district.
 
"Acting on a tip-off, the BGB personnel of Akhaura BOP under the Sultanpur 
Battalion of BGB (60 BGB) conducted a special raid in the Devgram area of 
Akhaura upazila in Brahmanbaria on Saturday," Sultanpur Battalion Commander 
Lieutenant Colonel SM Shariful Islam told this today.
 
He added: "The border security forces seized 2,761 pieces of Indian sarees 
worth about Taka 2,59,77,000." 
 
The seized goods are yet to submit to the concerned customs office through 
proper legal process.
