Mirza Fakhrul sees stronger Bangladesh-KOICA relations

DHAKA, May 11, 2026 (BSS) - Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives Minister Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, MP, today expressed optimism that the existing friendly relations and development cooperation between Bangladesh and Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) would be further strengthened in the coming days.
 
He expressed the optimism when KOICA Country Director Jihoon KIM paid a courtesy call on him at his ministry office at the Secretariat this morning.
 
During the meeting, they discussed in detail the progress of ongoing development projects between Bangladesh and KOICA, future plans and various issues relating to mutual cooperation.
 
The meeting also discussed different aspects of cooperation and the possibility of undertaking new projects on poverty alleviation, climate change adaptation, and construction of climate-resilient infrastructure, agricultural expansion and sustainable rural development.
 
KOICA Bangladesh Deputy Country Director Junsu KIM was present on the occasion.
 
Rural Development and Cooperatives Division Secretary Mohammad Showkat Rashid Chowdhury, and relevant officials, among others, were present at the meeting.
