CHATTOGRAM, May 13, 2026 (BSS) - State Minister for Land and Chattogram Hill Tracts Affairs Barrister Mir Mohammad Helal Uddin emphasized the government's commitment to ensuring social security for marginalized communities.

Country's development cannot progress if disadvantaged groups are left behind, he said at a program organized by the Hathazari upazila administration.

The event was held aimed at providing assistance to individuals affected by natural disasters and fires, distribute aid to disabled individuals, support destitute families, offer alternative employment opportunities to registered fishermen along the Halda River, address drug-related issues, and host an inter-school and madrasa debate competition.

Mir Helal highlighted the initiation of various development projects in his parliamentary constituency within the first 90 days of the government's tenure.

UNO Mohammad Abdullah Al Mumin presided over the program held at the Hathazari Upazila Parisad premises.

Mir Helal announced that the Upazila Project Implementation Department provided assistance to three families affected by natural disasters and fires. They received two bundles of corrugated tin and two thousand taka in cash from the government's Ministry of Relief and Disaster Management.

The government fulfilled its moral responsibility by providing aid to the victims and also gave six thousand taka in cash to two poor families. This assistance will benefit marginalized people to some extent, he said.
