Govt committed to excellence in higher education: Education Minister

GAZIPUR, May 13, 2026 (BSS) - Education Minister Dr A N M Ehsanul Hoque Milon today said the present government is committed to achieving excellence in the country's higher education sector.

He made the remarks while addressing the Excellence Award ceremony of the Islamic University of Technology (IUT) at Board Bazar in Gazipur this afternoon.

The minister said IUT has been playing a significant role in human resource development for Bangladesh as well as other OIC member states through the advancement of technical and vocational education, research, training and capacity building initiatives.

He praised the university for its continued success in producing skilled and quality graduates.

The programme was chaired by IUT Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Mohammad Rafiqul Islam, who highlighted the university's ongoing efforts in strengthening education, expanding research activities and enhancing international cooperation.

At the event, awards and honours were conferred on individuals in recognition of their outstanding contributions to academic excellence, research achievements and institutional development.
