DHAKA, May 13, 2026 (BSS) - Nevian Lifescience PLC, formerly Novartis Bangladesh Limited, has started pharmaceutical exports to Canada, marking a major milestone for Bangladesh's drug industry.

The exports are being carried out under a contract manufacturing agreement with Swiss multinational company Sandoz, a press release said today.

In the first phase, medicines produced at Nevian's Tongi plant are being shipped to Sandoz Canada based on orders from Sandoz AG, Switzerland.

The company also plans to expand exports to selected markets in Europe, North and South America under the same arrangement.

The announcement was made at a programme held at Nevian's Tongi facility.

Health and Family Welfare Minister Sardar Md Sakhawat Husain joined virtually as chief guest and praised the achievement, saying it reflects the growing strength of Bangladesh's pharmaceutical sector and export diversification.

Nevian Managing Director Musawath Shams Zahedee said exports to a highly regulated market like Canada demonstrate the company's commitment to maintaining international quality standards and mark a new milestone in contract manufacturing.

Nevian, now owned by Radiant Pharmaceuticals after acquiring a majority stake in 2025, continues to operate from its EU-GMP-certified Tongi plant under globally recognized quality standards in collaboration with Sandoz.
