DHAKA, May 13, 2026 (BSS) - The railway authorities have advised passengers to purchase tickets through the Bangladesh Railway's designated app, Rail Sheba, to avoid harassment and ticketing fraud ahead of the upcoming Eid-ul-Adha.

According to a press release, it has been observed that some individuals are falsely claiming to sell train tickets through various social media platforms, although they have no capacity to provide tickets. Passengers are urged not to fall victim to such fraudulent activities.

Under the current system, a maximum of four tickets can be purchased for a single journey using a registered ID. In such cases, the names of co-passengers must be entered during the ticket purchase process.

The press release further stated that 100% of Eid tickets are being sold online through the Rail Sheba app, and tickets are not available through any other person, organisation, or platform.

It also noted that, as per Bangladesh Railway rules, the ticket purchaser must travel with the same mobile phone and a valid photo ID. If anyone other than the registered ID holder and listed co-passengers travels, it will be treated as a punishable offence.

Advance ticket sales for Eid-ul-Adha began today.
