DHAKA, May 13, 2026 — The Bangladesh Film Certification Board has temporarily suspended the certification license of the Bangla feature film ‘Contract Marriage’ following allegations raised by model and actress Zeba Jannat regarding the unauthorized use of her footage and images in the movie.
According to a press release issued by the board today, Jannat alleged that she had verbally agreed to act in a single-episode drama and participated in several scenes for that purpose.
Later, she discovered that posters of the film ‘Contract Marriage’ featuring her photographs were being circulated on the social media.
The complainant further stated that scenes originally filmed for the drama were allegedly incorporated into the feature film without her consent, triggering widespread discussion and criticism across online platforms and social media.
The controversy intensified after actress Moushumi and her husband actor Omar Sani publicly spoke against the film’s producer and director through various media outlets and social media platforms, leading to negative public reaction over the movie.
In light of the allegations and under Section 8 of the Bangladesh Film Certification Act, 2023, the certification certificate of the feature film ‘Contract Marriage’ has been suspended temporarily.
The order takes immediate effect, and the film cannot be screened in any cinema hall or through any other medium in Bangladesh until further notice, the statement added.
