PM chairs meeting on BRT project

DHAKA, June 14, 2026 (BSS) – A meeting on the Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) project was held today with Prime Minister Tarique Rahman in the chair.

The meeting was held at the Prime Minister’s Cabinet Division office at the Bangladesh Secretariat here this afternoon, according to a press release of the Prime Minister’s Press Wing.

During the meeting, the progress, implementation process and potential benefits of the BRT project, which stretches from Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport to Joydebpur in Gazipur, were discussed in detail.

Experts attending the meeting shared their views on various aspects of the project. In particular, they presented their observations and recommendations regarding the BRT design, station management, passenger services, operational structure and overall effectiveness.

Road Transport and Bridges, Railways and Shipping Minister Shaikh Rabiul Alam, State Minister for Road Transport and Highways and Railways Habibur Rashid, Road Transport and Highways Division Secretary Dr Mohammed Ziaul Haque, Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET) teachers Md Shamsul Hoque, Mosleh Uddin Hasan, Md Hadiuzzaman and Rakib Ahsan, Chief Engineer of the Roads and Highways Department Syed Moinul Hasan and other relevant officials were present at the meeting.
