Information and Communication Technology is country’s backbone: ICT Secretary

RANGPUR, Jan 16, 2025 (BSS) - Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Division Secretary Shish Haider Chowdhury today said ICT is the backbone of a country in the contemporary world.
 
“There is no alternative to increasing capacity to move forward in technology and innovation,” he said.
 
He opined this while delivering the chief guest speech at a seminar titled 'Activation Program of University Innovation Hub Programme' organized at the cafeteria building of Begum Rokeya University, Rangpur (BRUR) on this afternoon.
 
He said that students will get the opportunity to innovate and be creative by using the labs of the incubation center set up in Pirganj, Rangpur.
 
“Initially, the BRUR students will get the opportunity to use two of the five labs here. This center will be opened to all and implemented locally,” he said.
 
Vice-chancellor of the university Professor Dr Md Showkat Ali presided over the event.
 
 The Vice-chancellor said, along with academic knowledge, Begum Rokeya University is giving importance to practical education. Many students of this university are involved in freelancing. They are doing well in the IT sector.
 
Earlier, a delegation from Bangladesh Hi-Tech Park Authority and a delegation from Begum Rokeya University jointly visited the IT Training and Incubation Center located in Pirganj, Rangpur.
 
After the visit, they exchanged views with local entrepreneurs and those involved in outsourcing.
