New Logo of the Department of Prisons.

DHAKA, Jan 2, 2025 (BSS) – The government has changed the logo of the Department of Prisons in line with its mission and vision.

“The logo for the Department of Prisons has been changed as the earlier one did not match with the vision and mission of the prison authority,” Additional Inspector General of Prisons Col Mohammad Mustafa Kamal told BSS today.

Baton and key replaced the boat in the new logo, he said, adding that the baton symbolizes discipline and safety of the prison inmates and the key symbolizes the path of light for prisoners.

The previous logo had a jute leaf at the top and shapla (water lily) with a boat in the middle while the baton and key replaced the boat in the middle in the new logo, he said.

“If you look into the logo of the prison authority across the globe, the logo has similarity with their missions and visions. We did the same thing,” he said.

The government has issued an order to use the new logo for the Department of Prisons, saying, “It is hereby informed for your information that the Ministry of Home Affairs has recently issued instructions to replace the previous logo of the Department of Prisons with a new logo.”

The vision of the Department of Prisons is “Rakhib Nirapad, Dekhabo Alor Parth (Keep safe and show the path of light).

And its mission is to ensure safe detention of prisoners, strict prison security and maintain order among prisoners, treat prisoners humanely alongside making sure their proper accommodation, food, medical care and access to relatives, friends and lawyers and providing necessary motivation and training to rehabilitate the society as a good citizen.
