Malawi Defense Force Commander pays courtesy call on army chief

DHAKA, Feb 3, 2025 (BSS) – Visiting Malawi Defense Force Commander General Paul Valentino PHIRI today paid a courtesy call on Bangladesh Army Chief General Waker-Uz-Zaman at the Dhaka Cantonment here. 

“During the meeting, they exchanged their wellbeing with each other . . . Different bilateral issues of cooperation between the two countries and the future progress was also discussed there,” a release of the Directorate of Inter-Services of Public Relations (ISPR) said this afternoon.

Bangladesh army chief thanked the Malawi Defense Force Commander for the meeting.

Earlier, the Malawi Defense Force Commander paid tributes to the martyred members of the Bangladesh Armed Forces by placing wreath at the Shikha Anirban (flame eternal) at Dhaka Cantonment here.

Later, a smartly turn-out contingent of the armed forces provided him ‘Guard of Honor’. He also planted a sapling there. 

On February 2, Malawi Defense Force Commander arrived in Bangladesh on a five-day official visit. 

During the visit, he will visit several establishments of the Bangladesh Army, including National Defense College, Defense Services Command and Staff College, Bangladesh Institute of Peace Support Operation Training (BIPSOT), Cox's Bazar Area and camps of Forcibly Displaced Myanmar Nationals (FDMN), ISPR added.
