DHAKA, Feb 3, 2025 (BSS) - Chattogram Hill Tracts (CHT) Affairs Adviser Supradip Chakma today said that religion exists for the welfare of people and urged everyone to contribute to the nation's development irrespective of religion, caste, and creed.

"Every individual has the right to practice their religion freely . . . The interim government encourages people of all faiths to work together for the country's welfare," he said while addressing a programme at the Officers' Club in the city's Bailey Road area, marking Saraswati Puja.

"The country belongs to all of us . . . We aspire for a prosperous Bangladesh, and for that, people from all communities must come forward and contribute to nation-building with the spirit of the July-August Mass Uprising," he added.

The adviser further stated that if the people uphold the essence of the uprising, the country will get changed in the days ahead.

Later, he unveiled a commemorative souvenir, 'Mangalok,' and lit a candle at the event. He also handed over financial aid to the families of the July-August martyrs.
