Jahangir urges media to publish names of people behind road blockades

DHAKA, Feb 3, 2025 (BSS) - Home Adviser Lt. Gen. Md Jahangir Alam Chowdhury (retd) today called upon the media to publish the names involved behind the road blockades in the name of movements. 

“Their demands are increasing day by day. You (media) know who are behind this. Publish their names,” he said while replying to a question after coming out of a meeting on measures to ensure peaceful observance of the National Shaheed Day and International Mother Language Day on February 21 next. 

He called upon the students to hold their demonstrations on their campuses and open spaces instead of blocking the city roads which create immense public sufferings. 
  
“Go to the appropriate authorities and solve the problems through discussions,” he suggested the protesting students. 
 
The Home Adviser called upon the media to make the students understand the sufferings of the people due to the programme of blocking roads in the name of realizing their demands. 
  
Jahangir said police has been asked to take all possible steps to observe the International Mother Language Day on February 21 peacefully.

Replying to another question about the law and order in the last six months of the interim government, he said, law and order has improved comparing to the situation after assuming the office by the interim government. There is scope for further improvement of the law and order,” he said. 
 
The Home Adviser said they are not cent percent satisfied with the current law and order situation.

“So, we’re always trying to improve the law and order further,” he said.
