Women's football team to receive Ekushey Padak

DHAKA, Feb 6, 2025 (BSS)- Bangladesh women's national football team will be honoured with the Ekushey Padak 2025 in sports category for outstanding achievement last year. 

The women's team won back to back title in the coveted SAFF Women's Championship in 2022 and 2024 held in Kathmandu, Nepal under the leadership of goal-machine Sabina Khatun. 

Apart from the women's football team, fourteen other personalities will also receive the prestigious award for their contributions in respective fields.

Cultural Affairs Ministry announced the names of the recipients at a press conference on Thursday.

Ekushey Padak is the second highest civilian award introduced in memory of the martyrs of the Bengali Language Movement of 1952. The award is given to recognize contributions in a number of fields, including culture, social service, education and economics.
