DHAKA, Feb 09, 2025 (BSS) - Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir today said BNP welcomed the joint forces' special operation 'Devil Hunt'.

He said this while talking to journalists at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport here this afternoon on his return from USA.

Fakhrul Islam along with standing committee member Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury visited USA to attend the National Prayer Breakfast event in the Washington D.C. on February 6 and 7.

Another member of BNP delegation Zaima Rahman, daughter of BNP acting chairman Tarique Rahman, returned to London from the United States.

Mirza Fakhrul urged all not to fall into deposed prime minister Sheikh Hasina’s “trap”.

Accusing Hasina, the BNP secretary general said she is inciting her people from India to create unrest in the country. Hasina is responsible for the current instability in the country, he said.

“We have to be careful. If we want to make our achievements a success, we have to move forward slowly. Darkness cannot be removed with darkness. It has to be removed with light,” he said.

Asked about BNP Chairperson and former Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia’s physical condition and possibility of shifting her to the USA for further treatment, Mirza Fakhrul said she is fine now.

Begum Zia is now staying at her son’s residence and taking treatment under the supervision of physicians of London Clinic, he said.
