DHAKA, Oct 08, 2025 (BSS) - A court here today showed four people, including former ministers Rashed Khan Menon and Golam Dastagir Gazi, arrested in a case lodged over the killing of Md Shahjahan in the capital's Mohakhali area during the July-August Mass Uprising.

The other two people, who have been shown arrested in the case, are former mayor of Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) Atiqul Islam and former state minister for ICT Zunaid Ahmed Palak.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Sadekur Rahman passed the order as police produced the four before the court and pleaded to show them arrested in the case filed with the city's Banani Police Station. After that, the court sent the four accused back to jail.

According to the case documents, Md Shahjahan joined an anti-discrimination rally under the Mohakhali Flyover on July 19, 2024. The rally came under attack from cadres of the Awami League and its affiliated organisations. Shahjahan got shot on his chest and abdomen and was rushed to Dhaka Medical College Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries four days later.

Shahjahan's mother Sajeda Begum filed the case on December 18, 2024, with the Banani Police Station.
