Ex-CEC Justice Abdur Rouf to be buried at Mymensingh

DHAKA, Feb 10, 2025 (BSS) - Former Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Justice Mohammad Abdur Rouf will be buried at his family graveyard in Mymensingh today after third and final Namaz-e-Janaza.
 
Earlier his second Namaz-e-Janaza was held at National Eidgah after Zuhr prayers. The Janaza was attended by acting chief justice Md Ashfaqul Islam, chief election commissioner AMM Nasir Uddin, Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Adviser Dr Asif Nazrul, Housing & Public Works Adviser Adilur Rahman Khan, Attorney General Md Asaduzzaman, International Crimes Tribunal (ICT) Chief Prosecutor Muhammad Tajul Islam, Supreme Court Bar Association President AM Mahbub Uddin Khokon, Judges of both Appellate and High Court Divisions, lawyers and people from all walks of life.
 
Justice Mohammad Abdur Rouf's elder son Additional Attorney General Mohammad Arshadur Rouf sought blessings for his late father before the janaza.
 
Justice Rouf died of old-age complications at a city hospital on Sunday at the age of 91. 

Justice Mohammad Abdur Rouf, a former Appellate Division judge, served as the country's fifth CEC from December 25, 1990 to April 18, 1995.
