CHT adviser urges affluent society to come forward to help disabled persons

KHAGRACHHARI, Feb 25, 2025 (BSS)- Chittagong Hill Tracts Affairs (CHT) Adviser Supradip Chakma today urged the affluent society to come forward to help the disabled persons with special needs so that they would  become self-reliant.

"The well off people in our society should have the mindset to help the neglected disabled people of this country under the purview of human values and social responsibility. They should come forward to help the disabled people   so that they become self-reliant," he said.

The adviser made the call while speaking at the prize distribution ceremony at Khagrachhari Hill District Collectorate Disabled School ground   as the chief guest.

He distributed prizes among the winners of the sports and cultural competitions held on the school premises.

He also distributed 50 wheelchairs and supportive devices among disabled and physically challenged persons free of cost.

Earlier, the physically disabled students   of the school welcomed the adviser with performance of their cultural programmes. 

The adviser also distributed sweets, chocolates and cakes among the students on his own initiative. 

Besides, the adviser assured the authorities concerned of taking necessary steps to increase the amount of accumulated savings certificates for generating more income of the disabled persons. 

Later, the adviser inaugurated the newly built four-storey building of the Khagrachhari Hill District Council.

Adviser’s   wife Nandita Khisa, Khagrachhari Hill District Council Chairman Jiruna Tripura, CHT Ministry's Joint Secretary Kongkon Chakma, Khagrachhari Deputy Commissioner ABM Iftekharul Islam Khandaker, Superintendent of Police Arefin Jewel and Khagrachhari District Council Chief Executive Officer Sumon Chowdhury were present, among others, on the occasion.
