DHAKA, March 6, 2025 (BSS) - Environment, Forest, and Climate Change Adviser Syeda Rizwana Hasan today stressed the need for eliminating all forms of discrimination and working together to establishing true democracy and unity in the country.

She said building the country requires self-restraint, moving away from consumerist lifestyles, and engaging in meaningful work with an open mind. 

"Instead of finding faults in others, people should develop the habit of acknowledging their own mistakes," she said, firmly asserting that there can be no compromise with the question of unity.

Rizwana made the remarks as the chief guest at a discussion titled "Sri Sarada Devi and Universal Unity," organized by Ramakrishna Math and Mission, Dhaka, marking the 190th birth anniversary of Sri Ramakrishna and the 125th anniversary of Swami Vivekananda’s visit to Bangladesh.

She also stressed the need for collective efforts to tackle environmental crises. 

The environment adviser highlighted the importance of raising awareness to prevent environmental pollution and combat climate change. 

She further noted that the core teachings of all religions and philosophies revolve around human welfare, and it is essential to move forward with this understanding.

Referring to the ideals of Sri Sarada Devi, she described her as a symbol of humanity who taught the lesson of universal love beyond religion and caste—an invaluable teaching for today’s world.

The event was presided over by Swami Purnatmananda, Head and Secretary of Ramakrishna Math and Mission. 

Special guests included Dr. Jamila A. Chowdhury, Professor of Law at the University of Dhaka, and Sonam Saha, Assistant Professor of Development Studies. Swami Dhyanananda of Ramakrishna Mission also spoke at the event. 

The speakers highlighted the significance of universal unity in light of Sri Sarada Devi’s teachings and philosophy. 

They called for collective efforts to promote environmental and humanitarian welfare.

Later, Rizwana distributed prizes among winners of various competitions.
