Turkey keen to provide scholarships to DU students for higher education

DHAKA, March 11, 2025 (BSS) - Turkish Ambassador to Bangladesh Ramis Sen has expressed keen interest in providing scholarships to Dhaka University (DU) students for higher education in Turkey.

The envoy expressed his interest to DU Vice Chancellor (VC) Professor Dr Niaz Ahmed Khan at a meeting held at the latter's office here today.
 
Dhaka University Treasurer Professor Dr M Jahangir Alam Chowdhury and Associate Professor at the Department of World Religions and Culture Dr Md Abdullah Al Mahmud were present on the occasion.
 
During the meeting, they discussed various issues of mutual interest, especially the possibility of further strengthening the ongoing joint cooperative education and research activities between Dhaka University and various universities in Turkey.
 
Besides, they discussed the exchange of teachers, students and researchers between Dhaka University and various universities in Turkey.
 
They discussed the reconstruction of the Central Mosque Complex of Dhaka University with the financial assistance of the Diyanet Foundation of Turkey.
 
The development of Shaheed Dr Mohammad Murtoza Medical Center and various research laboratories of Dhaka University with the financial and technical assistance of the Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency were also discussed in the meeting.
 
Noting that Bangladesh and Turkey have been maintaining a friendly relationship for long, DU VC hoped that this cordial relationship will be further strengthened in the days to come.
 
He sought the cooperation of the Turkish Ambassador in implementing various development projects, including the reconstruction of the Central Mosque Complex and Medical Center at Dhaka University.
 
The Turkish Ambassador assured the authorities of Dhaka University of providing all possible assistance in this regard.
