Trader dies in Khulna gas cylinder explosion

KHULNA, Oct 6, 2025 (BSS) - A local trader, Nizam Uddin Molla, who suffered severe burn injuries in a gas cylinder explosion last week, died while undergoing treatment in Dhaka today.

Family sources said that the explosion occurred around 3 am on October 1 at his shop, Madina Traders, located on Sher-e-Bangla Road in Khulna City. 

Nizam sustained critical injuries when the cylinder exploded, leaving his body severely burnt.

Locals rushed to the scene upon hearing the blast and took him to Khulna Medical College Hospital. 

As his condition deteriorated, doctors referred him to Dhaka for advanced treatment, where he succumbed to his injuries this morning.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Khulna Sadar Police Station Shafiqul Islam confirmed the death and said an investigation is underway into the incident.
