National Vitamin A plus campaign begins in Thakurgaon

THAKURGAON, March 15, 2025(BSS) - The National Vitamin A Plus Campaign 2025 has begun today here in the district.

Thakurgaon deputy commissioner (DC) Israt Farjana inaugurated the national medical campaign at 250 Bedded Thakurgaon General Hospital in the morning while civil surgeon Dr Abul Bashar Md Sayeduzzaman, medical officer Dr Iftekhayrul Islam and senior education officer Asis Kumar Shah attended the event, among others.

Following the inaugural function, the DC visited two centers in Mondolpara and Salandor areas.

A total of 172 health assistants, 212 family welfare assistants and 2,728 volunteers have been working at 1,364 centers across the district.

At least 2,36,100 children of the district will be fed Vitamin A plus capsules. Of them, 26,612 children aged 6-11 months will be administered blue Vitamin A plus capsule and 2,09,500 children aged 12-59 months will be fed red Vitamin A plus capsule.

Dr Abul Bashar Md Sayeduzzaman said 80 percent targeted children had already been fed vitamin A capsules by noon.

He hoped that the authorities will be able to fully reach its target to feed Vitamin A plus capsules to 2,36,100 children.
