National Vitamin A Plus Campaign held at BSMMU

DHAKA, March 15, 2025 (BSS) - Vice-Chancellor (VC) of BSMMU Professor Dr. Md 
Shahinul Alam today said Bangladesh is leading globally in terms of the 
spontaneous participation of people in health campaigns while inaugurating 
Vitamin A Plus Campaign in the campus premises.

As part of the national programme, BSMMU organises the Vitamin A Plus 
Campaign 2025 at its Outdoor Patient Department (OPD), said a press release. 

Shahinul Alam said due to the spontaneous participation of the people in the 
National Vitamin A Campaign, including the vaccination programme, Bangladesh 
has achieved cent percent success, setting an example for the entire world to 
follow.

Wishing the success of the National Vitamin A Plus Campaign 2025, he said 
that Vitamin A capsules play a major role in preventing blindness.

"If children are fed this capsule every six months, they will be free from 
night blindness," he added.

The VC congratulated the parents who brought their children to take this 
capsule today, and will wait for them to come back with their children after 
six months.

In today's campaign, children aged six to 11 months are fed one blue vitamin 
A capsule each while children aged one to five years are fed one red vitamin 
A capsule each.

Pro-VC (Administration) Prof Dr. Md. Abul Kalam Azad, Dean of the Faculty of 
Pediatrics Prof Dr. Md. Atiar Rahman, Former Dean of the Faculty of 
Pediatrics Prof Dr. Manik Kumar Talukder, Director (Hospital) Brig Gen Abu 
Noman Mohammad Mosleh Uddin, and Prof of the Department of Pediatrics Dr. Md. 
Imnul Islam, among others, were present.
