DHAKA, Mar 20, 2025 (BSS) – Dhaka University has established a new trust fund titled “Professor Dr. Abul Kalam Manjur Morshed Trust Fund” to dedicate scholarships to students of Department of Linguistics.

Manjula Morshed, daughter of noted linguist and academic Professor Dr. Abul Kalam Manjur Morshed, handed over a cheque of Taka 15 lakh to DU Vice Chancellor to establish the trust in memory of her late father.

VC Niaz Ahmed Khan expressed gratitude for the establishing trust and hoped that it would greatly benefit the students. Such an initiative will play vital role in further strengthening the bond between the university and society, he said.

Senior teachers, chairperson of the department, deans, director of International Mother Language Institute and officials of the university were present.

Highest CGPA scorer in the final exam of different semester of the Department of Linguistics will get scholarship from the revenue of the trust fund, officials said.

Professor Dr. Abul Kalam Manjur Morshed (1938–2023), a former DG of Bangla Academy taught in both the Department of Bangla and the Department of Linguistics at Dhaka University.
