IU observes Independence Day with due respect

ISLAMIC UNIVERSITY, Kushtia, Mar 26, 2025 (BSS) - The authorities of Islamic University (IU) in Kushtia today celebrated Independence Day and National Day-2025 amid much enthusiasm. 

To mark the occasion, the campus was filled with a festive atmosphere 

The day began with the hoisting of the National Flag by Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. Nakib Muhammad Nasrullah and the University Flag by Pro Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. M. Yeaqub Ali in front of the administrative building. 

Later, a vibrant rally was brought out, led by Vice Chancellor Dr. Nakib Muhammad Nasrullah, Pro Vice Chancellor Dr. M. Yeaqub Ali, treasurer Dr. Jahangir Alam and registrar Dr. Manjurul Haque. 

IU student advisor Prof Obayedul Islam, proctor Prof Dr. Shahinuzzaman, Theology Faculty dean Prof Dr. ABM Siddiqur Rahman Asrafi, UTAB IU Unit president Prof Dr. Tozammel Hossain and numerous students, joined the rally.

After parading main streets on the campus, the rally ended at the memorial monument of the university. 

Later, IU administration, teachers, Zia Parishad, residential halls authorities, leaders of students against anti-discrimination platform, IU unit Chhatra Dal, IU Journalists' Association and different social and cultural organizations placed floral wreaths at the memorial in the remembrance of the nation's brightest heroes.
 
After paying tribute, a one-minute silence was observed, followed by the recitation of Surah Al-Fatiha and a prayer for the forgiveness of their souls.
 
Earlier, IU VC Prof Dr. Nakib Mohammad Nasrullah paid tribute to Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman by placing a floral wreath. 

After the Zuhr prayer, a special prayer was held at the university's central mosque, seeking forgiveness for the souls of the valiant martyrs who sacrificed their lives in the great Liberation War.
